How do I register to vote in Florida

Some people may not realize that you need to register first before you can vote in the State of Florida. To register to vote in Florida, you’ll need to follow these points:

First, determine whether you are eligible to vote in Florida. A person:

Must be a US citizen, Must be a resident of the State of Florida, Must be at least 18 years old(pre-registration to vote is allowed if you are 16 years old), Must NOT be judged mentally incapacitated, Must NOT have been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored, Must produce a valid current Florida drivers license or ID card, or Must provide the last four digits of your SSN if you do not have a Florida drivers license or ID card. Instead of these items you must check the box indicated on the registration form as NONE.

For those who meet the requirements, you will next need to complete a Florida voter registration application. Complete the Voter Registration Application. Complete all fields. Print the application out. Make sure all info on your application is provided. Where you register, your SSN, Drivers license number and ID card number stay confidential and are used just for registration requirements. Sign the application. An original signature is required because you are swearing and/or affirming to an oath. Mail your application to your trusty county Supervisor of Elections. You can opt to mail or deliver by hand the application to any Supervisor of Elections office in the state, the DMV, a registration company, an armed forces office, or the Division of Elections office.

Lots of people question whether or not they need to find a florida notary public to notarize the application. As of the date of this article, notarizing is not needed. If this is a new registration application in Florida, the date the complete application is postmarked or hand brought to a drivers license office, a voter registration company, an armed forces recruitment office, the Division of Elections, or the office of any supervisor of elections in the state is going to be your registration date. You must be registered not less than 29 days before you can vote in an election. If your application is complete and you are certified as a voter, a voter information card shall be mailed to you. Remember to carefully review the application. If the data you provide is not correct, you can be convicted of a felony of the third degree and fined up to$ 5, 000 and/or imprisoned for as much as five years.
